Jennifer Schwabach, 45, died March 26, 2013 at her home in Hammondsport after a long illness. She was born October 8, 1967, in Wilmington, Delaware, and grew up in Gilbertsville, New York. She graduated from Antioch College with a BA in community education, and from the University of Kentucky with a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling.

She worked at the VA hospital in Bath as a rehabilitation counselor for 13 years.

She was a member of Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America and the author of two novels, Dark Winter and Curse’s Captive. Her short stories and poems appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies. She loved reading and writing, and enjoyed attending science fiction and fantasy conventions and Renaissance fairs.

She is survived by her mother, Deborah Schwabach of Gilbertsville, father, Bob Schwabach of Evanston IL, brother Aaron (Qienyuan Zhou) Schwabach of San Diego CA, sister Karen Schwabach of Savona, brother Jonathan Schwabach of Gilbertsville, as well as cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and friends.

A graveside service will be held at [Glenside Cemetery in Pultney] at [10 a.m. Friday, March 29] .

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Jenny’s favorite charity, Nothing But Nets (http://www.nothingbutnets.net/).
